Pet parents often have expectations that are too high when it comes to dog toys. As I’ve said before, most dog toys will not hold up to aggressive chewers despite having names that might indicate the contrary. I also find it intriguing when a dog toy has the word Indestructible in its name, so it’s no wonder that I wanted to test out something called the Indestructibone by a company called Bullet Proof the minute I saw it. Well, let’s get one thing out of the way. It’s not really indestructible. In fact, Bullet Proof only claims that it’s virtually indestructible which is a nice way of saying, it can be destroyed. That only proves to me that this toy is made by an honest company.
The Indestructibone is made from a a non-toxic polymer that is BPA free, Phthalate free and it's also FDA compliant. The Indestructibone is hard but not as hard as an antler or bone and it won’t splinter or break like bones often do. In our tests only a few flakes came off which did not seem to be an issue. Bullet Proof says that the largest piece that may come off would be the size of a grain of rice and will easily pass if accidentally swallowed. The Indestructibone feels almost like pumice or lava rock. The toy is square shaped with scallops on it to make it easier for our pooches to grip. There are also two holes on either end to stuff treats into. I like the fact that they don’t go all of the way through like some others do. There’s no real chance of a treat getting stuck and stale and it’s also a way to know when you need a new one.
Judging by our testing results, the Indestructibone should last a long time while providing safe chewing satisfaction for your pooch. Bulletproof claims many of the Indestructibones last for months or longer. In fact, they’re so confident of the durability of the Indestructibone that they offer a one time replacement if your's is destroyed in 90 days or less.
